הסבר על Past Perfect (באנגלית)

הגדרה פשוטה: ה-Past Perfect (נקרא גם "עבר מושלם") הוא זמן פועל שמשמש לתיאור פעולה שהסתיימה לגמרי בעבר, וחשוב מכך – היא הסתיימה לפני פעולה אחרת שגם היא בעבר.

השם העברי המקובל לזמן הזה הוא "עבר מוקדם". זה שם מצוין, כי הוא מדגיש את התפקיד העיקרי של הזמן הזה: הוא מתאר את הפעולה שהתרחשה ראשונה מבין שתי פעולות שונות שהתקיימו בעבר.

המבנה באנגלית: Subject + had + Verb (Past Participle / V3)

  • had הוא פועל העזר והוא קבוע לכל הנושאים (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

  • V3 זו הצורה השלישית של הפועל, כמו eaten, seen, finished.

דוגמאות:

  • I had finished my homework before I went to the party. (סיימתי את שיעורי הבית לפני שהלכתי למסיבה.) הפעולה "לסיים את שיעורי הבית" התרחשה ראשונה, ולכן היא ב-Past Perfect.

  • By the time he arrived, we had already eaten. (עד שהוא הגיע, אנחנו כבר אכלנו.) הפעולה "לאכול" התרחשה לפני ש"הוא הגיע".

  • She didn't have any money because she had lost her wallet. (לא היה לה כסף כי היא איבדה את הארנק.) קודם כל, היא איבדה את הארנק (Past Perfect), ורק אחר כך לא היה לה כסף (Past Simple).

התרגום לעברית

בעברית, אין לנו מבנה מיוחד ל"עבר מוקדם". אנחנו פשוט משתמשים בזמן עבר רגיל של הפועל. את הסדר הכרונולוגי של הפעולות אנחנו מבהירים באמצעות:

  1. מילות זמן: "לפני ש...", "כבר", "עד ש...".

  2. הקשר: פשוט סדר המילים במשפט או המשפט הבא.

מתי באמת צריך Past Perfect?

ה-Past Perfect נחוץ כשיש שתי פעולות ששתיהן קרו בעבר, ואתם רוצים להדגיש בצורה ברורה איזו מהן קרתה קודם. לרוב, הפעולה המאוחרת יותר תהיה ב-Past Simple (עבר פשוט), ורק הפעולה שקדמה לה תהיה ב-Past Perfect.
